2009 Angler of the Year Rules
1. All fish entered must be caught from a kayak, without the aid of a powerboat and using methods deemed legal by the state in which they are caught.
2. Photographic evidence of fish size (total length for most species, for sturgeon use fork length) must be provided. For sturgeon, in the absence of a photo of the fish against a measuring device, a photo of the fish against an object of known size along with measurement that is witnessed and verified by another person in the pool will suffice.
3. Fish caught prior to January 1, 2009 are ineligible. Fish caught prior to payment of entry fees are also ineligible.
4. All fish entered must be caught in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, British Columbia, or Alaska. Fish caught from other states are still interesting but not counted in the prize categories.
5. The pool covers the following ten species/groups: Sturgeon, Rockfish/Cabezon/Greenling, Lingcod, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Panfish (including surf perch and walleye), Chinook, Coho & other salmon, Anadromous Trout, and Land-locked Trout,
6. No out off season, oversize or undersize (fish larger than the legal limit or smaller then the legal limit per species) may be entered. All local water rules must be followed. Ask yourself, could you have legally retained the fish? If the answer is yes, then that fish may count towards your points.
7. The biggest fish from each angler for a given species will be used towards the anglers total points.
8. The anglers fish for each individual species will be entered into a per species pool.
9. Panfish are defined as the following common names: crappie, bluegill, sunfish (not Mola mola), yellow perch, surf perch, and walleye.
10. Anadromous trout are defined as sea-run rainbow trout (i.e steelhead) and coastal cutthroat trout. All other trout are considered land-locked. Kokanee are actually landlocked sockeye and count towards the coho and other salmon category.
11. Entries must be posted within 2 weeks of being caught and photographed or 11:59 PM on Dec 31st (which ever comes first). No "hoarding" of entries.
12. Youth Divsion: This is a free add on to the AOTY, specifically aimed at our junior anglers. Any child aged 12 and under will be eligible to enter fish in the AOTY provided they are fishing with a registered participant.
