Decided to take a quick trip to the local lake after wrapping up with work. Hit the water at 6pm and headed for deeper water, as there are a ton of "seedlings" on top. I forgot half my tackle but didn't need it. Tried something different today and dropped a grub over the side at the end of a Carolina rig. Pedaled a "slow drive about half way down in about 80-90 feet of water and up pops this lunker rainbow!

Opening day action at Big Twin Lake. Could have sworn I had some bigger fish, but I was struggling with the camera, today. Smeared the lens with slime and had a hard time seeing the LCD screen with the glare.
Caught about a dozen fish. Best consistent action for the holdovers was near wave-swept rocky shores where some of the fish were trying to spawn. Caught some others in deep water by slowly dragging a dragonfly nymph, under a long sinktip. They were prettier looking, but mre smaller fish, that way. |

After catching one LMB and seeing another follow, I put on a floating perch Rapala. No more LMB, but got slammed by a couple of holdover trout. The first was 16' and the second was 14"+.
Ended the day with a leech pattern on a sinktip, with the flyrod. That netted me a handful of little (8-10") stockers. |

I was trying to catch bluegill & crappie for fish tacos. Ended up with only 4 bluegill, but mostly because the trout loved the marabou jig I was using. I landed over 20 trout (kept 5, including this beat up specimen). |

I think this fish is a cuttbow, with pink on the throat and reddish fin. After looking at more and more pictures though, I don't really have a clue.

Although, somehow the rigid bugger shrank 1/8" by the time I photographed him. Hopefully he will soon be replaced by a decent size fish, but at least I'm on the board. |

The lake was like glass this morning and the rainbows on this trip were all over the surface. From stocked fingerlings like this to twelve inchers. No sign of chinook today. Tiny Fish points~! |
